Sokhna: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli inaugurated the Punalu For Wood and Plastic Industries plant for the production of artificial marble, wood-plastic composite (WPC) boards, and UPVC doors and windows, in the Integrated Sokhna Industrial Zone of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE).
According to State Information Service Egypt, the inauguration is part of the state’s plan to boost the manufacturing sector, support the green economy, and advance sustainable development goals. During the ceremony, Madbouli emphasized the government’s commitment to fostering industries driven by innovation and clean technologies, which contribute to strengthening the national economy through high-quality, competitive products that meet regional and global standards.
Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone, Walid Gamal El-Din, stated that the project signifies the ongoing evolution of the industrial ecosystem in SCZONE, especially in sustainable industries based on composite materials. He highlighted the authority’s focus on enhancing investor services and promoting projects that align with global trends in green industrial transformation.
Madbouli was briefed by Mohamed Zaher Gamal, the plant’s CEO and owner, who detailed the factory’s specialization in producing artificial marble, including Corian and Bazellion types, as well as a range of plastic products and eco-friendly WPC sheets and profiles for modern construction and interior design needs. Zaher reported that the project covers 20,000 square meters, with investments totaling $12 million and an initial production capacity of 14 tons per day, which is expected to increase to 56 tons per day once all production lines are operational.
He added that the factory serves as an integrated model of the circular economy by using sustainable resources, converting waste into reusable materials, and employing advanced recycling technologies for plastics. This approach reduces reliance on natural wood, helps preserve forests, and lowers carbon emissions, aligning with Egypt’s strategy to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
