PM Inaugurates Ethanol Production Plant in Suez

Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly inaugurated the ‘Kemet for Integrated Industries’ ethanol production plant in the Sokhna Industrial Zone of the Suez Canal Economic Zone. The event highlighted the government’s focus on promoting value-added, technology-driven industries and encouraging private sector investment. The Prime Minister, alongside Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel El-Wazir, Public Enterprises Minister Mohamed Shimi, and SCZone Chairman Walid Gamal El-Din, underscored the project’s potential to reduce import costs and generate employment opportunities for young individuals.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the plant’s chairman, Romani Nabil Emmanuel, stated that the facility represents a $4 million investment. It spans 1,575 square meters within the Oriental Industrial Projects industrial city and is capable of producing high-purity ethanol at concentrations of 100%, 96%, and 70%, along with industrial alcohol at 95%. The plant has an annual production capacity of approximately 2 million liters and employs 30 direct and 15 indirect workers. Emmanuel noted the plant’s reliance on locally sourced sugarcane and beet molasses, which helps satisfy domestic demand for high-grade ethanol used in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and laboratory supplies.

SCZone Chairman Walid Gamal El-Din remarked that the facility bolsters local manufacturing capabilities and reflects investor confidence in the region’s infrastructure and business-friendly environment.
