Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli announced that the government is prioritizing the expansion of renewable energy projects and accelerating their integration into the national grid to decrease reliance on imported petroleum products and conserve foreign currency: During a meeting focused on renewable energy progress, Madbouli emphasized President Abdel Fattah el Sisi's directive for swift action to make projects operational, aligning with Egypt's strategy for a balanced and sustainable energy mix.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting included Central Bank Governor Hassan Abdalla, Planning and Economic Development Minister Rania Al Mashat, Electricity and Renewable Energy Minister Mahmoud Essmat, Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk, Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Hassan El Khatib, Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Karim Badawi, and other officials. Al Mashat highlighted ongoing cooperation with the Electricity Ministry to bolster privately led renewable projects through power purchase agreements and secure international financing via the Nexus of Water, Food and Energy (NWFE) Program.

Electricity Minister Mahmoud Essmat presented Egypt's ambitious target to increase renewable energy's share to 42 percent of total generation by 2030 and exceed 60 percent by 2040. The meeting also covered discussions on private-sector involvement in renewable energy projects and the allocation of land to the New and Renewable Energy Authority for establishing additional power generation stations nationwide.
