Petroleum Minister Engages with Aton Resources CEO on Egypt’s Gold Production Plans

New york: Petroleum Minister Karim Badawy held talks on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, with Aton Resources CEO Tonno Vahk on the sidelines of the Energy Intelligence Forum 2025.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Canada's Aton Resources Inc. plans to commence Egypt's first commercial gold production in the second half of 2026 from its Abu Marawat concession in the Eastern Desert. The discussions between Minister Badawy and CEO Vahk focused on reviewing Aton's operational roadmap and its anticipated role in enhancing Egypt's gold production capacity.

Minister Badawy reiterated the government's support for Aton Resources' expansion plans, emphasizing Egypt's dedication to attracting mining investment and accelerating project implementation. The meeting highlighted the strategic importance of the mining sector in Egypt's economic development agenda.
