Occupation forces detain Palestinian, assault two others south of Hebron

HEBRON: Israeli occupation forces Monday evening detained a Palestinian and assaulted two others in the southern West Bank district of Hebron, according to WAFA correspondent.

He said that the occupation forces barged their way into Khallet al-Farra community, west of Yatta city, where they detained a resident, assaulted his wife along with another man and seized his vehicle.

During the raid, the soldiers ransacked several houses, turning them upside down.

The Casualties were rushed to a nearby hospital.

Meanwhile, colonists set up tents close to Khirbet Tuba in Masafer Yatta in an attempt to take over Palestinian land for colonial settlement construction.

Masafer Yatta is a collection of almost 19 hamlets which rely heavily on animal husbandry as the main source of livelihood.

Located in Area C of the West Bank, under full Israeli administrative and military control, the area has been subjected to repeated Israeli violations by settlers and soldiers targeting their main source of living – livestock.

I
t has been designated as a closed Israeli military zone for training since 1980s and is accordingly referred to as Firing Zone 918.

Israeli violations against the area include demolition of animal barns, homes and residential structures. Issuance of construction permits by Israel to local Palestinians in the area is non-existent.

Over 700,000 Israeli colonists are living in colonial settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem in violation of international law.
