Ministry of Awqaf Celebrates Opening of 21 New Mosques in Egypt

Cairo: The Egyptian Ministry of Awqaf has announced the opening of 21 new mosques as part of its ongoing efforts to develop Houses of God. These new openings, which took place on Friday, August 29, 2025, include the rebuilding and renovation of 13 mosques, alongside the maintenance and upgrade of 8 others.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the ministry has made substantial progress since the beginning of July 2025, with a total of 121 mosques opened. This figure includes 97 new or rebuilt mosques and 24 that have undergone maintenance and upgrades. The Ministry further revealed that since July 2014, 13,610 mosques have been rebuilt, renovated, and furnished, with an estimated total construction cost of EGP 23.5 billion.
