Cairo: Dr. Maya Morsi, the Minister of Social Solidarity, welcomed Mr. Eric Chevalier, the French Ambassador in Cairo, and his accompanying delegation at the ministry's headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. The meeting was attended by Ms. Dina Al-Sayarfi, Assistant Minister for International Cooperation, Relations, and International Agreements, and Ms. Amira Taj El-Din, General Director of the General Administration for Agreements and International Relations. According to State Information Service Egypt, the discussion focused on the ministry's areas of work, particularly in the sectors of social protection and economic empowerment. A key highlight was the ministry's "Takaful and Karama" programme, a conditional cash transfer initiative that has been operational for a decade. The meeting also addressed the ministry's efforts in launching a strategic financial system for economic empowerment. This initiative aligns with Egypt's broader objective of transitioning from a traditional social protection system to more sustainable and inclusive models. The discussions further explored the existing cooperation between the French Development Agency and civil society organizations in Egypt. Both parties expressed hope for expanding their collaboration in economic empowerment areas in the future. The meeting concluded with both sides affirming the importance of strengthening the partnership in light of the strong relationship between Egypt and France.
