Amman: Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, held a meeting with Ms. Zeina Toukan, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, during the 33rd session of the joint Egyptian-Jordanian Higher Committee in Amman, chaired by the Prime Ministers of both nations. The discussion focused on enhancing the partnership between the two ministries to exchange experiences in developmental planning and policies aimed at economic development.According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting also involved discussions on activating the executive programme signed during the committee's session between the National Planning Institute in Egypt and the Jordanian Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation. Dr. Al-Mashat reiterated Egypt's commitment, under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to strengthening the relations between Egypt and Jordan, which have historically been linked by significant economic ties contrib uting to bilateral, Arab, and regional cooperation.Dr. Al-Mashat emphasized the exemplary nature of Egyptian-Jordanian relations in the Arab world, highlighting the consistent support and interest from political leadership in both countries amid the evolving dynamics in the region. She underscored the role of the joint Egyptian-Jordanian Higher Committee in bolstering economic, commercial, investment, and cultural relations, marking it as the oldest Arab bilateral higher committee.The meeting also focused on cooperation in developmental planning and sustainable development through a memorandum of understanding signed in August 2023 in Amman. This agreement aims at planning cooperation and capacity building through training programmes, workshops, and forums in strategic planning, governance, sustainable development, and competitiveness.Dr. Al-Mashat suggested the exchange of experiences between Egypt and Jordan in sustainable development and planning, particularly in implementing recommendations from the "Public Governance Review" conducted in collaboration with the OECD. Furthermore, the ministers discussed joint efforts in international forums to advance global initiatives from the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development and other conferences, focusing on reforming the global financial structure to support developing and emerging economies.
