Cairo: The Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Dr. Hani Sweilem, convened a meeting focused on the efforts of the Nile River Development and Protection Sector to eliminate encroachments on the Nile River. This initiative is in collaboration with relevant government bodies and is part of the "Nile River Control" project, which is a key component of the Egyptian Irrigation System 2.0.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Dr. Sweilem emphasized that any encroachment on the river's course adversely affects its capacity to manage water flow essential for meeting various water requirements. The ministry is committed to addressing and preventing such encroachments to ensure the river's functionality.
