Indonesian Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan has stressed the importance of relations with Egypt at the political and economic levels.
Egypt is important because it is the gate to the Middle East and Africa regions, Hasan said during a meeting with Egypt’s Ambassador in Jakarta Ashraf Sultan, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement Sunday.
Hasan said that his country greatly appreciates historical and cultural ties with Cairo.
The two sides need to probe opportunities of trade and investment cooperation, he urged.
Hasan and Sultan agreed on the need to ease obstacles hindering economic cooperation between their countries.
