House of Representatives Opens 6th Ordinary Session of 2nd Legislative Term


Cairo: The House of Representatives convened on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, to open the sixth ordinary session of the second legislative term, under the chairmanship of Speaker Hanafi Gebaly. During the meeting, key announcements were made, marking the commencement of a new legislative chapter.



According to State Information Service Egypt, presidential decrees were read out declaring the conclusion of the fifth ordinary session and inviting the chamber to assemble for the upcoming legislative term. This procedural step is essential for maintaining the continuity of legislative activities and ensuring that the lawmakers are aligned with the presidential directives.



Additionally, lawmakers engaged in a review of a presidential message concerning multiple articles of the draft Criminal Procedures Law. This review signifies the ongoing dialogue and examination of legislative frameworks crucial for the country’s legal system.



Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli is expected to address the assembly later today, where he will provide a statement regarding the contested provisions. His address is anticipated to shed light on the government’s stance and the proposed adjustments to the legal draft.
