Foreign Minister Engages with U.S. Envoy on Gaza Ceasefire Discussions

Washington: During his presence in the U.S. capital, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, conducted a phone call on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, with the U.S. President's Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, prior to Witkoff's departure to the region.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the call addressed efforts aimed at reaching an agreement for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, ensuring the unconditional flow of humanitarian aid into the Strip, and the release of a number of hostages and detainees.

Views were also exchanged regarding the joint efforts of the three guarantor parties-Egypt, the United States, and Qatar-to secure a ceasefire by intensifying pressure, in a manner that would allow for the agreement to be reached as soon as possible.

Minister Abdelatty extensively reviewed the humanitarian catastrophe in the Strip resulting from Israel's violations and its use of starvation as a weapon against the Palestinians in Gaza.

Minister Abdelatty also addressed the efforts exerted by Egypt to expedite the resumption of negotiations on the Iranian nuclear program between the United States and Iran, as well as between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
