FM Warns of Gravity of Israeli Forced Displacement of Palestinians

Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty on Thursday 18/9/2025, had a phone call with US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, as they discussed the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and the updates on Iran's nuclear program. The two sides exchanged views on the situation in Gaza, where the Foreign Minister stressed the need to put an end to the ongoing Israeli military operations in the Palestinian enclave, which have devastating humanitarian repercussions on Gazans.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty stressed the extreme gravity of Israeli forced displacement of Palestinians, which are seen as a main source of instability in the region and directly undermine the regional security. He underlined the displacement of Palestinians from their land can never be accepted, noting that such a move would undermine and ultimately liquidate the Palestinian cause. He stated Egypt firmly rejects displacement under any pretext or designation, as it has no justification whatsoever.

Abdelatty emphasized the need for Palestinians to remain on their land, highlighting the importance of reaching a ceasefire deal to help de-escalate tensions, allow the delivery of humanitarian aid amid the catastrophic situation in Gaza, and restore stability to the region.

On another front, the two sides addressed the updates on the Iranian nuclear program, especially in light of the agreement reached between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Cairo on September 9, which marked the first arrangement to resume cooperation between Tehran and the agency since the Israeli aggression against Iran. The Foreign Minister also briefed the US envoy on the latest contacts with the Iranian side, outlining the endeavors to reduce tensions, delay the reinstating of UN sanctions, and resume negotiations between Iran and the US.
