Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty praised the historic relations between Egypt and Namibia during a meeting with Namibia's Minister of International Relations and Trade, Selma Ashipala Musavyi.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to strengthening bilateral relations in various fields, particularly in economic, trade, and development cooperation. He highlighted opportunities for collaboration in the pharmaceutical industry and food security, as well as the potential for Namibian partners to benefit from the expertise of Egyptian companies in energy, construction, infrastructure, ports, roads, dams, and tourism.

Abdelatty stressed the importance of continuing meetings of the joint committee and political consultations between the two countries. He also emphasized the need for fostering closer ties between Egyptian and Namibian investors to boost trade and economic exchanges for mutual benefit. Furthermore, Abdelatty reviewed scholarships and training programs offered by the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development (EAPD) and the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding (CCCPA), which contribute to building Namibian capacities and empowering young professionals.

Abdelatty emphasized Egypt's keenness to maintain close coordination with Namibia on issues of mutual interest at African and international fora, including within the African Union and the United Nations. He noted the top priority given to issues of peace, security, sustainable development, and advocating African priorities, most notably the reform of the UN Security Council.

Musavyi expressed deep appreciation for Namibia's distinguished ties with Egypt, commending Cairo's ongoing support in capacity-building and technical assistance. She underlined Namibia's interest in expanding bilateral cooperation and drawing on Egyptian expertise to advance the common interests and aspirations of both nations.
