FM, Palestinian PM Discuss Preparations for Gaza Reconstruction Conference

Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa reviewed ongoing preparations for an international conference on Gaza's early recovery and reconstruction, which is slated to be held in Cairo in the second half of November. During a phone call on Friday, the two sides exchanged views on the conference, as they discussed all details related to the event objectives and its expected outcomes, especially financial commitments required for Gaza reconstruction, as well as the extent of damage in the war-torn Palestinian strip.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty expressed hope for active participation from the international community in the conference, which falls within the framework of an Arab-Islamic plan approved by Arab and Muslim countries, and a large number of international community members. The conference comes in light of ongoing coordination for implementing US President Donald Trump's peace plan for rebuilding the war-ravaged enclave. Meanwhile, the Palestinian premier lauded Egypt's efforts to host the conference, in addition to its role in stopping the war in Gaza and defending the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
