FM Opens Egyptian-Burkinabe Business Forum

Ouagadougou: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Badr Abdelatty inaugurated the Egyptian-Burkinabe Business Forum at the Burkinabe Chamber of Commerce headquarters in Ouagadougou. The event took place on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, with the participation of Karamoko Jean-Marie Traoré, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Burkina Faso, Roland Sow, President of the Burkinabe Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and key figures from the business communities of both nations.According to State Information Service Egypt, a delegation of 30 businessmen, CEOs, and representatives from major Egyptian companies attended the forum, led by Sherif El Gebali, Chairman of the African Cooperation Committee at the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI). The forum facilitated meetings between Egyptian and Burkinabe companies, fostering opportunities to establish partnerships and explore joint projects in various sectors, including agriculture, pharmaceuticals, infrastructure, mining, manufacturing, and renewable energy.In his a ddress, Abdelatty emphasized the forum's role in opening direct communication channels between the business communities of both countries. He urged private sector leaders to capitalize on investment opportunities and build partnerships grounded in trust, sustainability, and mutual benefit. He highlighted the shared political will to enhance economic, trade, and investment cooperation between the two nations.Abdelatty praised the Burkinabe market's potential in agriculture, energy, mining, and infrastructure, and noted Egypt's expertise in pharmaceuticals, construction, renewable energy, IT, and technical education. These areas provide fertile ground for successful partnerships and expertise exchange, supporting development efforts in both countries.He also reviewed Egypt's infrastructure achievements, noting annual exports exceeding $44.5 billion, with $6.5 billion directed to African markets. Abdelatty attributed the increase in exports to advancements in local manufacturing and infrastructure investment s exceeding $500 billion since 2014.Abdelatty expressed hope that the forum would promote the bilateral partnership to new levels of cooperation, development, and prosperity, embodying the shared will for economic integration and trust in Africa's potential.
