Paris: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty met on Sunday, 5th September, 2025, with the permanent representatives of Turkey, Brazil, Bangladesh, Japan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Luxembourg, and the UAE to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
According to State Information Service Egypt, this meeting occurred during Abdelatty's visit to Paris, where he is leading Egypt's delegation at the Executive Council meetings of UNESCO. These meetings are significant as they will see elections for the position of Director-General on Monday, 6th October.
These discussions are part of Egypt's strategic efforts to support Dr. Khaled El-Enany, who is running for the Director-General post. The objective is to secure backing from different member states for Egypt's candidate.
The permanent representatives expressed their approval of the Egyptian candidate, acknowledging his qualifications for the role. They affirmed their support for Dr. Khaled El-Enany's nomination.
