Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty emphasized during a phone call with Dutch Foreign Minister David van Weel the importance of adhering to the terms of the Gaza ceasefire agreement and implementing all its provisions.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the two ministers discussed developments in the Gaza Strip and the need to support security and stability in the region. The Foreign Minister emphasized that adhering to the agreement is a critical step toward achieving security and stability in the region and alleviating humanitarian suffering in Gaza.
They also discussed the outcomes of the Sharm El-Sheikh Summit for Peace, which saw the signing of an agreement to end the war in Gaza. The Dutch Foreign Minister praised Egypt's central role in brokering the ceasefire agreement, which was based on the initiative of U.S. President Donald Trump.
Regarding the upcoming International Conference on Early Recovery and Reconstruction that Egypt plans to host in November, the Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of international participation in the conference to implement early recovery and reconstruction plans for the Gaza Strip, in line with the Arab-Islamic plan for early recovery and reconstruction, as well as the U.S. president's peace plan in the Middle East. This will contribute to safeguarding the rights of the Palestinian people.
He also stressed the need for European and international efforts to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the residents of Gaza, given the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the area. For his part, the Dutch Foreign Minister praised Egypt's role in supporting stability in the region and expressed his desire to coordinate with Egypt on the early recovery and reconstruction of Gaza, as well as to participate in the international reconstruction conference next month. He also emphasized the importance of working to solidify the Sharm El-Sheikh agreement.
