FM: Egypt to Maintain Its Key Role in Supporting Regional Security, Stability

Cairo: Foreign, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Minister Badr Abdelatty said Egypt will continue to play its key role in supporting regional security and stability, and activating political and diplomatic solutions to any crisis. Abdelatty made the remarks during a meeting on Wednesday July 30, 2025 with American author Thomas Friedman in Washington, where they discussed the multiple challenges in the Middle East and how they impact regional security and stability.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the two sides also reviewed prospects of enhancing economic cooperation between Egypt and the US. Abdelatty highlighted the economic reforms pursued by Egypt to lure foreign investments and encourage private investors to do business in Egypt.

Discussing the developments in the Gaza Strip, Abdelatty touched on the progress made in Egypt's efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement. He stressed the importance of creating a political opportunity that would lead to a comprehensive settlement between Palestinians and Israelis based on the two-state solution as well as international legitimacy resolutions.

On that score, Abdelatty commended France and the UK for their intention to recognize the State of Palestine. The meeting also tackled the situation in Syria as well as navigational security in the Red Sea region.
