FM Chairs Meeting of Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development Board


Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty chaired a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development (EAPD) at the Ministry’s headquarters. The meeting saw participation from ambassador Abu Bakr Hefny, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates, ambassador Nermeen el-Zawahry, Assistant Foreign Minister and EAPD’s Secretary General, along with several assistant ministers and board members. The discussion focused on reviewing the Agency’s work program and activities for the upcoming period.

According to State Information Service Egypt, during the meeting, Foreign Minister Abdelatty emphasized that the EAPD is a crucial element of Egypt’s soft power and plays a significant role in supporting African nations and promoting South-South cooperation. He highlighted that aiding African countries and strengthening ties with nations of the Global South are central aspects of Egypt’s foreign policy. This appro
ach reflects Egypt’s longstanding commitment to advancing Africa’s causes and the broader developing world while promoting sustainable development and shared prosperity.

The minister stressed the importance of coordination between the EAPD and various ministries and national entities to ensure integration in executing training programs, capacity building, and knowledge exchange. These efforts are particularly focused on sectors like health, education, agriculture, energy, and water resources management.

Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s dedication to aligning the Agency’s programs with national development plans in African and southern countries, thereby enhancing their capacity for achieving comprehensive and sustainable development. He also emphasized the need for stronger collaboration with Egypt’s private sector to facilitate the financing and implementation of joint development projects, which would contribute to regional integration in Africa and extend the reach of South-South cooperation.

alled for maximizing the benefits of the Agency’s initiatives and stressed the importance of regularly assessing their impact to ensure positive and lasting effects on local communities in partner countries. Additionally, he advocated for expanding the deployment of Egyptian experts and technical professionals in development projects across Africa and the Global South, leveraging Egyptian expertise to support Africa’s development agenda and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Abdelatty concluded by affirming that Egypt will maintain an active and leading role as a key partner in fostering progress and development across Africa and the developing world.
