FM Addresses High-Level Conference on Palestinian Peaceful Settlement and Two-State Solution

Cairo: Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty addressed the High-Level Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Palestinian Question and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution. This conference arrives at a critical period amid the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip, where more than 2.5 million Palestinians face severe humanitarian challenges, including siege, displacement, and scarcity of resources.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister Abdelatty highlighted the daily violence faced by Palestinians, not only in Gaza but also in the West Bank. He emphasized the systematic violence by the occupying power and the failure of international bodies to address these issues. The conference aims to coordinate international efforts to handle the humanitarian crisis and revive the two-state solution as a means to establish regional security.

Minister Abdelatty stressed the importance of a permanent ceasefire and post-war reconstruction efforts, particularly through the Arab-Islamic Early Recovery and Reconstruction Plan. He announced Egypt's intention to call for the Cairo International Conference for Early Recovery and Reconstruction following a ceasefire in Gaza.

The Foreign Minister also underscored the necessity of supporting the Palestinian Authority to strengthen its role in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. He reiterated the centrality of the Palestinian issue in the Middle East and the importance of recognizing the State of Palestine based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Minister Abdelatty praised French President Emmanuel Macron's decision to recognize the State of Palestine and urged other nations to follow suit. He outlined five measures to support the Palestinian issue, including ending aggression on Gaza, enabling UN operations, supporting Palestinian unity, implementing reconstruction plans, and launching negotiations for a comprehensive peace.

These efforts aim to ensure humanitarian aid access, strengthen Palestinian governance, and work towards the realization of a two-state solution, addressing the root causes of the conflict and aiming for a peaceful resolution.
