Electoral Process Commences in 117 Countries for Egyptians Abroad

Cairo: Counselor Ahmed Bendary, Executive Director of the National Elections Authority (NEA), announced the commencement of the electoral process for the 2025 House of Representatives elections across 117 countries, involving 1,139 polling stations worldwide.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the NEA's central operations room, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has established communication with ambassadors leading the electoral committees abroad. The voting began at 10:00 AM Egypt time and is set to conclude in Los Angeles. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs ensured seamless coordination and conducted training for ambassadors to manage electoral committees effectively.

The overseas voting officially kicked off in New Zealand, with polling stations in Wellington opening at 9 AM local time for Egyptian citizens. The NEA's Central Operations Room, led by Judge Ahmed Bendary, held a press conference to update on the progress of the elections abroad, emphasizing continuous coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to facilitate the voting process across 124 countries.

The number of polling stations abroad has increased with the inclusion of Iraq. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the provision of necessary facilities to ensure a smooth voting experience and maximize participation among Egyptians residing overseas. A 24-hour operations room has also been established to monitor the process in coordination with the NEA.

The first phase of overseas voting will occur on November 7-8, with the second phase scheduled for November 21-22. Voting for Egyptians residing in 14 governorates within Egypt is set for November 10-11. The election results for this phase are expected to be announced on December 2.
