Egypt’s SCZONE Signs $75 Million Contracts for Industrial Projects in West Qantara

Cairo: Egypt's Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) announced the signing of contracts exceeding $75 million to establish three industrial projects in the West Qantara Zone. These projects are expected to generate annual exports of over $100 million.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the projects, which cover 225,000 square meters, will create approximately 3,600 direct jobs. SCZONE stated that these initiatives are fully financed and involve a prominent Egyptian investor along with a consortium of Egyptian and Chinese partners.

The first project, valued at $28.2 million, will focus on producing microfiber textiles and blankets on a 75,000-square-meter site, with an annual output of 21 million pieces and 8,000 tons. Approximately 70% of this production will be exported, and the project is expected to employ about 1,250 people.

The second project, worth $29.2 million, will manufacture textiles and home furnishings primarily for export markets. It aims to produce 5.6 million pieces and 3,000 tons annually, creating around 1,150 jobs in the process.

The third initiative, with an investment of $17.625 million, will establish a factory for electric blankets and polyester heating textiles. This will be the first factory of its kind in Egypt, the Middle East, and Africa. Built by the world's largest Chinese producer of electric blankets, the plant will export its entire annual output of 5.6 million electric blankets and 3,000 tons of heating textiles, employing about 1,200 people.

SCZONE Chairman Waleid Gamal El-Dein noted that with these new agreements, the West Qantara Industrial Zone now hosts 44 projects, with total investments reaching $1.1685 billion and creating 60,165 direct jobs across 2.8 million square meters.
