Bucharest: Egypt's newly-appointed Ambassador to Romania, Mohamed Mostafa Orfi, presented a copy of his credentials to Romanian Foreign Minister Oana ?oiu.
According to State Information Service Egypt, during the meeting, Ambassador Orfi conveyed greetings from Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty to the Romanian foreign minister. He expressed Egypt's desire to elevate bilateral relations with Romania to a partnership level across multiple sectors.
The ambassador emphasized the strategic role Romania could play as a hub for Egyptian exports to Eastern European and Baltic markets, while also positioning Egypt as a gateway for Romania into the African continent. He anticipated increased cooperation in various fields in the upcoming period.
Ambassador Orfi also expressed Egypt's hope that the Romanian president would participate in the inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM). He highlighted the museum's global significance in showcasing the rich heritage of Egyptian civilization.
In response, Minister ?oiu welcomed the Egyptian ambassador and praised the strong bilateral relationships between the two countries. She emphasized Romania's eagerness to strengthen ties with Egypt in a manner that benefits both nations, particularly as they approach the 120th anniversary of diplomatic relations next year.
