Cairo: Egypt's agricultural exports have exceeded 7.2 million tons so far this year, up more than 600,000 tons from the same period in 2024, Agriculture and Land Reclamation Minister Alaa Farouk said on Monday, September 22, 2025.
According to State Information Service Egypt, a report submitted to the minister by Mohamed El-Mansy, head of the Central Administration of Agricultural Quarantine, showed citrus fruits remained Egypt's top export at over 1.9 million tons, followed by fresh potatoes at 1.3 million tons and fresh onions at 256,000 tons.
Other key exports included beans, sweet potatoes, grapes, mangoes, tomatoes, garlic, pomegranates, strawberries, and guavas.
Farouk stated the surge reflects the sector's growing competitiveness and the state's commitment to expanding access to international markets. He praised the combined efforts of farmers, exporters, regulatory bodies, and quarantine services in maintaining export standards and boosting output.
He added that rising exports are helping strengthen Egypt's economy by increasing foreign currency inflows and generating jobs across the agricultural value chain.
