Cairo: The Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) launched its 68th humanitarian convoy, titled 'Zad Al-Izza... From Egypt to Gaza,' comprising a number of trucks loaded with urgent humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
According to State Information Service Egypt, this initiative is part of the ERC's ongoing efforts as the national coordination mechanism for delivering aid to Gaza. The convoy carried 68 tons of emergency humanitarian supplies, including approximately 280,000 food baskets, 185 tons of flour, more than 2,700 tons of essential medical and relief materials, and over 1,200 tons of petroleum products.
The convoy demonstrates Egypt's commitment to supporting the Palestinian people and providing sustained food, medical, and relief assistance to the residents of Gaza. Since the onset of the crisis, the Egyptian Red Crescent has played a pivotal role as the main coordinating body for aid delivery to Gaza. Despite challenges, the Rafah border crossing on the Egyptian side has remained partially open, enabling the continuous flow of humanitarian assistance.
The organization has maintained logistical readiness across all its centers, ensuring the steady delivery of aid. To date, more than half a million tons of humanitarian and relief aid have been sent, made possible by the dedication of over 35,000 Egyptian Red Crescent volunteers.
