Cairo: Mohamed Salah El-Din Mostafa, Minister of State for Military Production, has announced the successful collaboration between Egypt and Japan in developing technology to generate potable water from atmospheric air. This venture is part of a broader effort to innovate water production and support Egypt's national industry.

According to State Information Service Egypt, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Egypt's National Authority for Military Production and the Japanese company Mizuha. This agreement focuses on designing, manufacturing, and testing stations capable of generating 500 liters of potable water daily from atmospheric air. Mizuha is set to implement the prototype and assess its operational efficiency across the country.

The collaboration includes ensuring the water produced meets Egyptian drinking water standards. Plans are underway for mass production by establishing factories within ministry-affiliated companies. Following successful prototype testing, both parties aim to market these units across neighboring countries and Africa.

The initiative seeks to localize production, enhance the use of local materials, and promote sustainable manufacturing. Initial testing in Egypt has shown promising results, confirming the device's suitability under local conditions. Already, 100 devices have been manufactured in collaboration with Helwan Company for Metallic Appliances and Mizuha, with plans to introduce them to the Egyptian market soon.

The Minister emphasized the role of private sector partnerships in advancing Egyptian manufacturing capabilities and aligning with global quality standards. The Ministry of Military Production, leveraging advanced manufacturing and technological resources, is committed to modernizing various sectors through international cooperation.

This initiative is part of Egypt's strategic vision to bolster industry as a pillar of sustainable development, aligning with the political leadership's directives to enhance local production and reduce imports.
