Egyptian Delegation Assesses Preparations for Prosthetic Centers in Germany

Cairo: Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsy received a report from the Central Administration for Persons with Disabilities detailing a visit by an Egyptian delegation to the German Ottobock company, renowned for its expertise in prosthetics, orthopaedics, and exoskeletons.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the visit aimed to evaluate the preparations for assembly and fitting centers as part of Egypt's initiative to localize the prosthetic industry, in alignment with directives from the country's political leadership. During the visit, the delegation inspected Ottobock's warehouses and assessed the machinery, equipment, and tools intended for the assembly and fitting centers across several Egyptian governorates, including Sharkia, Beheira, Ismailia, Assiut, Luxor, and Aswan, prior to their shipment and delivery.

Additionally, the delegation conducted a field visit to the Ottobock factory to gain insights into the German practices of manufacturing prosthetics and orthopedic devices. This visit was complemented by a tour of the Ottobock Scientific and Training Academy, where the delegation explored advanced technical training programs. The knowledge acquired from these programs is expected to aid in developing an Egyptian training curriculum aimed at qualifying national professionals to operate in the new centers.
