He highlighted Egypt's pivotal role in achieving a ceasefire in Gaza during the recent Sharm El-Sheikh summit, remarks made during his meeting with Egypt's Ambassador to Malta, Shaimaa Badawy.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the discussions between the Maltese Prime Minister and the Egyptian ambassador revolved around enhancing bilateral relations and addressing regional and international developments of mutual interest. The Maltese Prime Minister underscored the necessity of solidifying the ceasefire agreement in Gaza to ensure lasting stability in the region.
Ambassador Shaimaa Badawy acknowledged Malta's historic recognition of the State of Palestine, emphasizing the importance of restoring a political horizon and implementing a two-state solution to secure regional stability and security. She also highlighted the need to boost inter-trade and direct investments between Egypt and Malta to levels that truly reflect the depth of their relationship.
Both parties agreed on the importance of enforcing cooperation frameworks to serve their common interests and fulfill the aspirations of their peoples. They concluded that the alignment of visions and interests between Egypt and Malta provides a robust foundation for deepening coordination and cooperation, both bilaterally and on European and international platforms.
Furthermore, discussions included developing political and economic cooperation, particularly in new and renewable energy, maritime transport, tourism, and migration.
