Casablanca: Egypt welcomed the adoption of a United Nations General Assembly resolution supporting the New York Declaration on implementing the two-state solution and establishing an independent Palestinian state, the foreign ministry said on Friday 12/9/2025.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the resolution follows a high-level UN conference on the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian question and the application of the two-state solution, held in New York in July and co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France.
In a statement, the ministry said the backing of 142 countries was clear evidence of broad international support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them the right to self-determination and the establishment of a sovereign state based on the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Egypt called on all countries that supported the resolution to coordinate efforts to implement the conference's outcomes, in order to revive the Middle East peace process and end Israel's aggressive policies.
The statement said that these goals could only be achieved through intensified efforts to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and to halt the flagrant Israeli violations, including the use of starvation and blockade as tools to forcibly displace Palestinians-an approach Egypt said it firmly rejects under any circumstances.
