Egypt to Begin Disbursing August Cash Support to 4.7 Million Families

Cairo: Egypt's Ministry of Social Solidarity announced on Thursday that it will commence the disbursement of August payments under the Takaful and Karama cash support program on Friday, August 15. This initiative will benefit 4.7 million low-income families across the nation.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the total value of the disbursement exceeds 4 billion Egyptian pounds. Beneficiaries will have access to their funds through bank ATMs nationwide starting Friday morning. The payments can also be utilized for electronic purchases, bill payments, and accessing government services.

The Takaful and Karama Program currently provides support to approximately 18 million individuals and operates with an annual budget of 54 billion pounds. This follows a permanent 25 percent increase in benefits that was introduced in April.
