Egypt sends relief aid to quake-hit Turkey, Syria

Two military cargo planes took off heading for Turkey, carrying large quantities of humanitarian assistance in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to continue providing relief aid to the quake-hit country.

The shipment includes medicines and medical supplies offered by the ministries of defense and health in solidarity with the Turkish people after a strong earthquake hit the country on February 6, leaving thousands dead and wounded.

Also, a supply ship from the Egyptian Navy arrived in Turkey and Syria carrying tons of relief aid.

The officials in the two countries expressed appreciation for the efforts exerted by Egypt to help them overcome the devastating effects of the deadly quake.

At least 41,156 people have been killed by two strong earthquakes that jolted southeastern Turkey on February 6.

In Syria, the death toll hit 5,814 people, raising the tally of victims in the two countries to nearly 47,000 following the devastating earthquakes.
