Cairo: Egypt's Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El-Khatib held a roundtable with McLarty Associates, leading U.S. investors, and financial experts on the sidelines of the IMF and World Bank annual meetings. El-Khatib emphasized that while global economic challenges persist, Egypt views the current phase as a historic opportunity to reposition itself and attract high-value investments, supported by political stability, a strategic regional role, and major infrastructure development.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the minister outlined the government's long-term economic vision centered on fiscal, monetary, and structural reforms to enhance competitiveness and empower the private sector as the main driver of growth. He highlighted Egypt's digital transformation through the Unified Licensing Platform, now offering 460 services, and efforts to cut customs clearance time by 90%.
Participants praised Egypt's reform agenda and expressed strong interest in exploring investment opportunities in its expanding market.
