Egypt Plays Key Role in Rallying Global Support for Palestinian Statehood

Cairo: Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Tamim Khallaf stated that Egypt has played an active role in mobilizing international support for recognizing a Palestinian state, referencing announcements by nations such as France, the UK, Portugal, Malta, and Canada.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Khallaf emphasized Egypt's significant contribution to the Palestinian cause, noting that it has provided approximately 70% of the total humanitarian aid to Gaza. He highlighted that preparations are underway for a major international conference focused on the early recovery and reconstruction of the war-torn enclave.

Khallaf outlined Egypt's three-phase plan to rebuild Gaza and its continued efforts to mediate a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. He addressed the protests outside Egyptian embassies abroad, describing them as misleading and harmful, claiming they divert attention from Israel's actions in Gaza.

Discussing Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Minister Badr Abdelatty's visit to Washington, Khallaf remarked that the talks underscored the strong ties between the U.S. and Egypt, covering topics such as Palestine, Sudan, Libya, Syria, Iran's nuclear issue, and Egypt's water security.
