Egypt-Italy Agricultural Ties Set for Strengthening

Cape town: Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa El-Din Farouk emphasized the depth of historical relations between Egypt and Italy. He highlighted promising opportunities to enhance cooperation in the fields of sustainable agriculture and agricultural scientific research, in addition to activating collaboration in agricultural cooperatives in a way that serves small farmers, strengthens their capacities, and increases production efficiency.According to State Information Service Egypt, Farouk's remarks came during a meeting with Italian Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty, and Forestry Francesco Lollobrigida on the sidelines of the G20 Agriculture Ministers' Working Group meeting, held in Cape Town, South Africa. The meeting comes as part of the two countries' commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and joint cooperation in the agricultural sector, which is considered a cornerstone for achieving food security and sustainable economic development.The two sides reviewed the ongoing cooperation between their countries. For his part, the Italian minister praised Egypt's efforts in developing the agricultural sector, especially in light of major national projects. He stressed that Egypt is a strategic partner for Italy in the Mediterranean region.
