Geneva: Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar engaged in discussions with his Tunisian counterpart, Mustapha Ferjani, to enhance bilateral cooperation in the health sector and exchange expertise in healthcare.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Health Ministry spokesman Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar announced in a press statement that the meeting took place during the 79th session of the World Health Assembly in Geneva. The dialogue focused on strengthening the partnership within the framework of the 'One Health' approach, aiming to tackle regional health challenges such as combating epidemics, enhancing health security, and addressing climate change repercussions, antimicrobial resistance, and food and water safety.
The spokesman noted that the ministers discussed cooperation in developing primary healthcare, hospital management, and emergency systems. They also emphasized the importance of activating agreements and memoranda of understanding previously signed between the two nations. The discussions included exploring cooperation in medical tourism, unified procurement of medicines and medical supplies, and the exchange of doctors in priority specializations.
Both ministers stressed the necessity of continued joint efforts to support the Palestinian health sector and to strengthen rapid responses to health emergencies. This collaboration is expected to contribute to achieving sustainable development goals and enhancing health security in the Arab and African regions.
