Port sudan: Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty met with Sudanese Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ambassador Mohy Eldin Salem to discuss regional cooperation and water security. Abdelatty emphasized the strong bilateral ties between Egypt and Sudan and highlighted Egypt's involvement in promoting a ceasefire and humanitarian truce in Sudan to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty underscored Cairo's supportive role in initiatives to end the siege of El-Fasher, expressing Egypt's solidarity with Sudan and its dedication to the country's stability, security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He reiterated Egypt's support for Sudan's national institutions, especially its armed forces, and expressed a desire to enhance economic and trade relations, noting the facilities provided to Sudanese citizens in Egypt.
During their discussions, both ministers emphasized the shared position of Egypt and Sudan as downstream countries of the Nile Basin. They called for adherence to international law regarding the Eastern Nile Basin and rejected unilateral actions concerning the Nile, emphasizing the importance of coordinated efforts to safeguard their mutual water security.
