Egypt and South Africa Seek Enhanced Trade in Construction Materials

Cape town: Egypt's Ambassador to South Africa Ahmed Ali Sherif recently engaged in a virtual meeting with the Egyptian Export Council for Building Materials, Refractories, and Metallurgical Industries. The meeting was attended by several prominent Egyptian construction and building materials companies.According to State Information Service Egypt, Sherif emphasized the significant opportunities available in the South African market for Egyptian construction materials. He noted the rising demand for these products amid South Africa's large-scale development projects. The ambassador referenced data from the embassy's economic and commercial office, highlighting South Africa's ambitious infrastructure and development plans, which align with Egypt's strong export capabilities and competitive advantages under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement.The meeting participants agreed on a set of coordinated follow-up actions between the Export Council and the embassy's economic and commercial off ice. These efforts aim to promote Egyptian companies in the South African market by identifying real export opportunities, ensuring Egyptian producers are promptly informed, and enabling the submission of competitive offers to expand the presence of Egyptian products in South Africa.
