Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty, engaged in a phone conversation with Mozambique's Foreign Minister, Maria Lucas, aiming to bolster bilateral relations and maintain consultation and coordination on regional issues of mutual interest. The dialogue reflects ongoing efforts to enhance cooperation between the two nations.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty praised the strong ties between Egypt and Mozambique, expressing Cairo's interest in expanding bilateral cooperation, especially following the recent election of Mozambican President Daniel Chapo and marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the countries. He highlighted areas such as capacity building, education, health, and infrastructure as key sectors for development, alongside encouraging trade exchange and joint investments.
Abdelatty emphasized the importance of organizing a round of political consultations between Egypt and Mozambique. Mozambique's Foreign Minister expressed her country's appreciation for Egypt's support, particularly in capacity building, and showed a desire to enhance collaboration across various sectors. She acknowledged Egypt's significant role on both the African and international stages.
The ministers also discussed several regional issues and the security and development challenges facing the African continent. They agreed to persist in their coordination in regional forums and to strengthen joint actions within the African Union, advocating for the principles of solidarity and integration.
