Egypt and Jordan Call for Immediate Ceasefire and Humanitarian Access in Gaza

Cairo: Egypt and Jordan reaffirmed their continued efforts to secure an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and end the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe caused by Israel's military offensive, Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Minister Badr Abdelatty said on Thursday, September 4, 2025, following talks with Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the two ministers met on the sidelines of the 164th session of the Arab League Council in Cairo. They underscored the need for urgent, unconditional access for humanitarian, relief, and medical aid to Gaza, warning of worsening conditions on the ground. Abdelatty and Safadi praised the close strategic and fraternal ties between Egypt and Jordan, emphasizing a shared commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation across various sectors in a way that serves both countries' peoples and promotes regional stability.

The discussions focused heavily on developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, including both the West Bank and Gaza. The ministers rejected all illegal Israeli settlement activities and condemned ongoing settler violence against Palestinians. They also firmly opposed recent Israeli statements on the annexation of the West Bank and any plans for forced displacement.
