The meeting, held in El-Arish, focused on enhancing Egyptian-German cooperation in humanitarian and development efforts, particularly concerning relief initiatives for the Gaza Strip during the ongoing humanitarian crisis. North Sinai's strategic importance as a logistical hub for aid delivery was a key point of discussion.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Ambassador Schulz commended Egypt's critical role in facilitating the movement of humanitarian aid into Gaza via the Rafah Crossing. He emphasized Germany's dedication to supporting these relief operations in partnership with Egypt and international bodies. To date, the German government has contributed pound 1.3 million in medical aid to Egypt and an additional pound 29.3 million through United Nations agencies to address urgent humanitarian needs in Gaza. Ambassador Schulz also expressed Germany's willingness to engage in the Gaza Reconstruction Conference, which Egypt is set to organize.
Governor Maghawer expressed gratitude for Germany's supportive approach toward Egypt's initiatives to aid the Palestinian population. He reiterated North Sinai's commitment to aiding humanitarian organizations and agencies active in the region. During his visit, Ambassador Schulz is scheduled to inspect Al-Arish General Hospital to assess the condition of Palestinians injured in the conflict and to visit aid warehouses in Al-Arish and the Rafah border crossing to observe ongoing relief efforts.
