Tokyo: Minister of Education and Technical Education, Mohamed Abdel Latif, emphasized the importance of building teachers' capacities through specialized training programs and encouraging them to pursue self-learning and engage in global knowledge exchange. He noted that today's children possess advanced digital skills, which necessitate a comprehensive and integrated development of educational strategies.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the minister's remarks came during a lecture he delivered on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Japan University of Economics in Tokyo, Japan, on the future of digital education, as part of the activities of the Data Science Research Seminar in the Era of Digital Transformation (DX). During the lecture, Abdel Latif presented Egypt's vision for digital transformation in education and explored prospects for cooperation with Japan in this field.
He affirmed that digital technology is a key tool for expanding learning opportunities and overcoming geographical and economic disparities. The minister pointed out that the Egyptian government has distributed tablets free of charge to secondary school students, noting that Egypt is working to improve the quality of digital content and expand the integration of artificial intelligence applications and data analytics into the education system.
He stressed that the primary goal is not to replace teachers with technology, but rather to empower them to use AI tools to support the future of students. At the end of the lecture, the minister responded to participants' questions regarding current challenges and prospects for developing digital education. He reaffirmed the Egyptian Ministry of Education's commitment to strengthening cooperation with Japan in the fields of educational technology and inclusive education.
