Samarkand: Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ayman Ashour heads to Samarkand, Republic of Uzbekistan, to participate in the 43rd session of the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Dr. Ayman Ashour is scheduled to deliver the official statement of Egypt before the General Conference.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Dr. Ayman Ashour will participate in the opening session of the Education Commission and the ministerial dialogue session for ministers of education. During his visit, Dr. Ashour plans to hold several bilateral meetings with ministers of higher education from several Arab, Asian, and European countries to discuss ways to enhance joint academic and scientific cooperation.

The General Conference is also expected to witness the approval of the election of Dr. Khaled El-Anany as the first Egyptian and Arab Director-General of UNESCO, in addition to his official inauguration ceremony in this high-ranking international position. Dr. Ayman Ashour is attending the 43rd session of the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), accompanied by a delegation from the Ministry of Higher Education and the Egyptian National Commission for UNESCO.
