Cairo: The American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt (AmCham Egypt) has signed a strategic partnership with Egypt's Entrepreneur Awards (EEA) platform to promote the country's rapidly growing startup sector, the nation's investment authority announced.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) stated that the agreement will highlight top entrepreneurs, connect them with established businesses, and bolster Egypt's status as a regional innovation hub. The partnership was formalized in Cairo with the signing of a memorandum of understanding by AmCham CEO Sylvia Menassa and EAA CEO Amr Mansi. The signing ceremony was attended by GAFI Chairman Hossam Heiba, AmCham board member and Procter and Gamble's Vice President Kareem Yassin, and other senior business leaders.
AmCham's committees will engage with EAA winners to offer mentorship and market access, supporting growth opportunities for startups in key sectors. This initiative coincides with a surge in entrepreneurial activity across Egypt, particularly in areas such as fintech, e-commerce, and clean technology. Encouraging innovation is a crucial component of Egypt's Vision 2030 strategy, which aims to diversify the economy and attract foreign investment.
