Accra: Egypt condemned remarks by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, suggesting the possibility of Palestinians being displaced through the Rafah crossing on the Gaza border.

According to Nam News Network, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry accused Netanyahu of attempting to prolong the ongoing conflict to avoid accountability for the Israeli regime's actions in Gaza. The ministry reiterated Cairo's firm rejection of any plans to expel Palestinians from their land.

The Foreign Ministry highlighted that the targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure is compelling Palestinians to leave their homes. Such actions, it stated, are violations of international humanitarian law and could potentially amount to ethnic cleansing. The ministry urged the international community to ensure those responsible are held accountable for these actions.

Netanyahu, speaking on the Telegram channel Abu Ali Express, claimed that Egypt was incarcerating Gaza residents who sought to leave. He stated that while Israel would allow Palestinians to cross at Rafah, Egypt was allegedly preventing them from doing so.
