Cairo: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar emphasized that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's commitment to the health sector places it at the forefront of national priorities, particularly focusing on breast cancer.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister Abdel Ghaffar stated that this initiative aims to provide a comprehensive and resilient healthy life for every Egyptian woman. He highlighted breast cancer as a significant health challenge impacting families, communities, and economies. This was conveyed during his speech at the "Advancing the Implementation of the WHO Breast Cancer Initiative through Patient-Centered Care in the Eastern Mediterranean Region" conference, organized in collaboration with the Eastern Mediterranean Alliance for Noncommunicable Diseases.
The conference took place alongside the 72nd session of the WHO Regional Committee in Cairo, attended by Deputy Ministers of Health from Oman and Russia, along with representatives of international organizations. Dr. Abdel Ghaffar began by greeting the ministers and regional partners, conveying the support of the Egyptian leadership for the "Cairo Call to Action" aimed at combating breast cancer and achieving Sustainable Development Goals.
Dr. Abdel Ghaffar reiterated the importance of a collective commitment to equity, innovation, and cooperation, which he stated are essential for building a flexible, comprehensive, and human-centered health response in the region.
