276 Healthcare Facilities Accredited Under Egypt’s UHIS

Cairo: Egypt Healthcare Authority (EHA) announced, on Saturday 26/7/2025, that 276 healthcare facilities in six governorates have been officially accredited as part of the first phase of the Universal Health Insurance system (UHIS).

According to State Information Service Egypt, the accredited facilities include 196 that received full certification under the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation (GAHAR) standards, which are internationally recognized by ISQua. Additionally, another 80 facilities were granted provisional accreditation.

For his part, EHA's Chairman, Ahmed el Sobky, emphasized that the authority is now the largest accredited healthcare body in both the public and private sectors. The governorates that have received accreditation include Port Said, Luxor, Ismailia, Suez, Aswan, and South Sinai.

El Sobky elaborated that these certifications confirm the facilities' compliance with global healthcare standards and highlight Egypt's progress toward the 2030 development goals, particularly in health. He underscored that accreditation is essential for facilities to join the insurance system, ensuring service quality and patient safety.

He further noted that expanding the program nationwide remains a top priority for the state, with full support from the Cabinet despite global economic challenges.
