Emigration min. urges benefiting from Al Azhar, Church efforts in enhancing Egypt’s soft power in Africa

Minister of State for Emigration Soha el Gendy said on Thursday 16/3/2023 Al Azhar and the Church are two national institutions that can be benefited from in enhancing Egypt’s soft power inside the African continent.

The minister gave the remarks during a meeting with Archbishop of the Coptic Orthodox Church in Africa Anba Joseph on Egyptian communities in the continent.

Gendi underlined the importance of enhancing cooperation with the Egyptian Church in Africa to iron out any hurdles facing members of the Egyptian expat communities.

She reiterated the keenness of the political leadership on enhancing cooperation with the African brethren.

She underlined the importance of laying down a strategy for cooperation with fellow African countries and opening new markets, referring in this regard to coordination to launch “Egypt can with Trade and Industry with Africa” conference.

The two sides also discussed increasing tourism inflows among African nations, boosting trade exchange, fostering cooperation in the educational and electricity domains and sending medical assistance to African countries.

Hegazi: Applied technology schools changed perception of technical education in Egypt

Education and Technical Education Minister Reda Hegazy said applied technology schools changed the societal perception of the technical vocational education in Egypt, as they became a model that can be exported to regional and world countries.

Hegazy made the remarks on Thursday 16/3/2023, while he was opening the Fathallah International School for Applied Technology in Alexandria, in the presence of Chairman of Fathallah Markets Group Alaa Fathallah, Alexandria’s Deputy Governor Jackleen Azer and Margaret Sancho, Deputy Director of the US Agency for International Development (USAID), as well as other officials.

The education minister said the Fathallah International School for Applied Technology is the result of cooperation and successful partnership between the Education and Technical Education Ministry, Fathallah Markets Group and USAID.

Hegazy thanked the private sector and USAID for their sustained efforts to modernize the technical education system in Egypt, citing the Egypt Manpower Project, which aims to prepare technical education teachers well to be able to equip students with the competencies that qualify them to integrate effectively in the labor market.

The minister explained his ministry pays great attention to upgrading technical and vocational education, as part of the national sustainable development agenda (Egypt Vision 2030), which aims to make technical education and vocational training available to all students without discrimination.

Hegazy stated the number of applied technology schools currently stands at 52 in 14 governorates, noting the ministry seeks to increase them to reach 420 schools.

On her part, the USAID deputy director said the agency is committed through the Egypt Manpower Project to providing education and training for all students and improving the quality of technical education and vocational training.

She added the applied technology schools will accelerate the development of technical education in Egypt and satisfy the actual needs of the labor market.
