PM: Cabinet meetings prioritize industry issue

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli has stressed that the daily meetings of the cabinet focus on the issue of industry.

The premier’s remarks came on Tuesday at a meeting held to follow up the implementation of recommendations of an economic conference which was held in October.

The meeting was attended by the ministers of international cooperation, finance and industry, the governor of the Central Bank of Egypt and a host of experts and respective officials.

Madbouli said the meeting aimed to discuss means of supporting the industry and increasing exports to propel industrial growth.

For his part, the minister of industry and trade said all bodies concerned coordinate and cooperate on developing an integrated national strategy for industry.

Military production, higher education ministers discuss bilateral cooperation

Minister of State for Military Production Mohamed Salah Eldin Mostafa had a meeting on Wednesday with Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ayman Ashour to discuss means of strengthening bilateral cooperation.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister for Scientific Research Affairs Yasser Refaat, President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) Mahmoud M. Saqr, President of Helwan University Elsayyed Qandil, President of Kafr el Sheikh University Abdel-Razeq El-Desouqi, Vice President of Assiut University Maha Kamel Ghanem, in addition to CEO of the Science, Technology and Innovation Funding Authority (STDF) Walaa Sheta.

During the meeting, the two ministers discussed cooperation files, stressing that the meeting reflected the two sides’ keenness on implementing President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives to boost cooperation among state institutions and scientific research centers.

The minister also asserted the Military Production Ministry’s keenness on closely following up the implementation of the projects carried out by its affiliated companies and units and speeding up their implementation as per the set timetable.

The Military Production Ministry attached great importance to contributing to developing the higher education system in Egypt and the manufacturing and production system, the minister further noted.

For his part, the higher education minister said the aim of the meeting is to follow up the latest developments related to the implementation of a number of projects.

The meeting also falls within the framework of the strategies of the two ministries to achieve Sustainable Development Strategy (SDS): Egypt Vision 2030, he added.

The two sides agreed on signing a number of cooperation protocols between the Military Production Ministry and technology faculties affiliated to the Higher Education Ministry.

State spares no effort to support Egyptian expatriates: Emigration min.

The State will spare no effort to provide more incentives to the Egyptian expatriates in coordination with the State’s institutions and ministries, said.

Minister of State for Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates’ Affairs Soha Gendi.

The minister wished the students and officials in Ukraine and Russia s success, especially in light of the current conditions there.

The minister’s remarks came during a virtual meeting she held with representatives of the Egyptian community in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

The meeting was held as part of “An Hour with the Minister” initiative, which aims to provide an opportunity to meet directly with Egyptians abroad and get acquainted with their needs and inquiries.

During the meeting, Gendi emphasized keenness on getting acquainted with the challenges and conditions besetting the Egyptian expatriates.

Gendi, meanwhile, said that several youth camps were organized by the ministry to preserve the Egyptian identity.

Mashat stresses depth of partnership with EU, OECD in various domains

International Cooperation Minister Rania Mashat stressed the importance of the program for the EU-funded project “Support to Enhanced Administrative and Public Economic Governance in Egypt” which is being implemented in tandem with the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the Ministry of Communications and IT, the Ministry of Planning and the Central Agency For Organization and Administration.

She made the remarks on Wednesday during her speech at a high-level conference on the EU-funded project “Support to Enhanced Administrative and Public Economic Governance in Egypt” in light of the strategic partnership between Egypt and the EU.

Mashat said the program focuses on three mainstays; backing Egypt Vision 2030 and the national strategy for administrative reform in addition to implementing effective financial systems through participation among national bodies and development partners.

She said the ministry is keen on achieving sustainable development priorities in various domains.

She lauded the government’s cooperation with the EU, noting that the development cooperation portfolio with the EU hit 1.3 billion euros in various domains.

The two-day conference will focus on means of magnifying the benefit of the program in light of the government’s priorities.

Supply Minister, EIB discuss construction of silo in Damietta’s port

Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ali Moselhy discussed on Wednesday 8/2/2023 with the European Investment Bank (EIB) delegation, headed by bank official Lionel Raphael, the construction of a large silo in Damietta’s port with a storage capacity of 200,000 tons.

The discussions also touched upon constructing 5 other field silos in Sharkia, Kafr El-Sheikh, Dakahlia, Minya and New Valley with a capacity of 5,000 tons each, according to the statement.

The silos will contribute to increasing the storage capacity of wheat in both mainland and port silos once the necessary financing procedures have been undertaken, asserted Moselhy.

The locations for the planned field silos came after intensive studies of the areas that are highest in wheat production; the silos’ proximity to these areas would save farmers’ time , said CEO and Managing Director of Egyptian Holding Company for Silos and Storage (EHCSS) Sherif Basili.
