Makram launches initiative to support Egyptians abroad

Minister for Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates’ Affairs Nabila Makram witnessed Thursday the launch of an initiative dubbed “Speak up… Egypt is with you.”

The initiative, which was launched in cooperation with the Egyptian online mental health platform Shezlong, aims to provide psychological support to the young Egyptians abroad.

The proceedings began by screening a documentary film on the initiative and its goals as well as the steps to register on the online platform to receive necessary treatment.

Founded in 2014, Shezlong helps patients connect with licensed therapists through online video calls, and uses cognitive behavioral therapy to teach individuals how to manage stress and anxiety.

PM directs to continue removing encroachments on agricultural lands

Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli issued directives to continue removing buildings encroaching on agricultural lands.

 

The premier also directed to continue enforcing the decision to stop providing all forms of state subsidies to those who construct new buildings illegally on agricultural lands.

 

Madbouli’s remarks came during a meeting held Thursday 16/6/2022 at the New Administrative Capital, in the presence of a host of ministers and senior officials.

 

The meeting was also attended via video conference by the governors of South Sinai, Port Said, Suez, Assiut, Damietta, Fayyoum, Gharbia, Menoufia, Beni Suef and the deputy governors of the New Valley and Kafr El Sheikh.

 

Madbouli, meanwhile, said that urban encroachment on agricultural land and building violations represent a threat to Egypt’s food security.

 

“Any new violations on the agricultural land would be severely countered,” Madbouli affirmed during the meeting.

Closing session of Sharm El Sheikh-hosted conf. kicks off

Proceedings of the closing session of the Eighth Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians kicked off in Sharm El Sheikh on Thursday 16/6/2022.

 

The two-day conference, held under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, is jointly organized by the House of Representatives and the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

 

Four sessions were held between the participating young parliamentarians and representatives of NGOs and experts.

The climate change is an existential threat that affects all regions around the world, warned Sahar el Bazzar, a member of the Egyptian House of Representatives, and the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Forum of Young Parliamentarians.

 

Speaking during the closing session of the Eighth Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians in Sharm El Sheikh, Bazzar urged the international community to exert more efforts to confront the global climate crisis.

 

Human rights are linked with climate change because of its devastating effect on human beings, she further said.

 

Talking about the climate finance, Bazzar said that that the developed countries have committed to contribute dlrs 100 billion annually to address climate change, but this goal has not been achieved yet.

She, meanwhile, referred to the legislative role in ensuring that the developed countries will deliver on their pledge.

The sessions tackled the climate change issue and its effect on human rights as well as the parliamentary action to address climate change along with the partnership between the NGOs and the parliamentarians to combat climate change.

Delivering a speech during the closing session of the Eighth Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians, President of the Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU) Duarte Pacheco extended thanks to the young parliamentarians all over the world, who were keen to attend the event to shed light on the challenges besetting the world, topped by the climate change and the plans that should be taken in order to address this issue.

 

Pacheco underlined the importance of the climate change issue, pointing out to the crucial role played by the youth in order to find solutions to this issue.

 

“I affirmed several times that inaction on the climate crisis will cost us dearly especially if we do not take immediate tangible steps,” he added.

 

He also stressed that it is important to fulfill climate pledges of Paris Agreement and turn them into a tangible reality on the ground.

 

Concluding his speech, Pacheco said that it is necessary to see a change during the climate summit which will be held in Sharm El Sheikh in November.

 

He hoped that Egypt’s presidency of the COP27 would help turn promises and commitments into actions.

 

It is important to take decisive steps now to address the climate change issue, he made it clear.

Zoomlion Brings Star Excavator to Buildexpo Africa 2022 and Kicks off Africa Service Tour
